This past week I taught a painting workshop for The Creative Arts Center in Chatham. We go out on location usually picking a different spot every day! Jackknife Cove is one of my favorites for the first day .It is just minutes away from the Creative Arts Center. I demonstrate in watercolor but I encourage any medium because there are many tips that can be taught that can be used with all mediums. One of the best tips for me was from Charles Sovek. In his oil painting workshop,he said to make sure to make some of the trees not so dense that a bird couldn't fly through them. It is easy to keep on "painting the leaves or pine needles on the tree" until every bit of sky is covered. So I warn my students to be careful of this happening. The second day we went to a town landing in Orleans which is between Mill Pond and Robert's Cove.

Hi Karen--Looks like you're having fun both with painting and your new blog! Keep up the great work. Hope to see you soon now that summer is winding down. Maybe we can go paint together some nice day?!
