Outer Beach, Orleans

This acrylic painting of Nauset Beach
looking south towards the outer beach
is 20" x 16". It is a beach that is
walked by many people and so I wanted to paint some beachcombers with their footsteps in the foreground. "Outer Beach"can be seen at the Summer Gallery on Jarvis Street in Sandwich now open for the season for 2007. I am new at this blogging so I hope I am answering those who make comments on the blog. Thanks for writing!

Paines Creek on a Summer Afternoon

This oil painting of Paines Creek I did on location several years ago. There is a lot of green in this painting but I can't believe how green it was that day in early summer. It is quite large measuring 42" x 24" and is $3000.

Fishes

This acrylic painting is a tryptich that I did for a home stager. She wanted something to match the Fiesta Ware, red, blue and yellow that she was using on the kitchen table so I painted these tropical fish on three canvases. The entire piece measures 54" x 36". The price is $3000 . They are gallery wrapped with no frame.

Geraniums

I painted this watercolor a few years ago. Artist and gallery owner, Susan Fehlinger bought the painting and asked me if I would consider making prints of it. I value her comments and taste so much, that I decided to do it. I now sell it here at the Underground Art Gallery in Brewster and Susan sells it along with my originals at her Summery Gallery on Jarvis Street in Sandwich, Massachusetts. The matted 24" x 18" print sells for $72. www.summergallerycapecod.com
I love showing you my paintings but this is a perfect time to rave about Susan's Gallery. Her gallery is so beautifully designed and decorated with beautiful paintings, tiles, sculpture, jewelry and fun items to buy. If you can make a trip to the historic town of Sandwich, please see this little gem of a place in the village.

This watercolor is of a wooden boat that was moored at Paines Creek. I waited until low tide and got on the other side of the creek to take pictures of the boat from which I did the painting.
The image size is 2o" x 14" and it is framed 26" x 20". Price is $900.
I have also made tiles of it. It is on my web site, http://www.karennorthwells.com/artwork/tiles.html

Paines Creek ( tryptich)

Paines Creek is a popular place for artists to paint. There are many beautiful views and it is only 1 1/2 miles from our home and gallery. I decided to use three square canvases for this oil painting. Each canvas is a 20" square which makes the total painting five feet wide. The price is $2000

Robert's Cove

I painted this oil (30" x 24" $2000)on location with my painting buddy, Gordon Huppi. We take my 1988 Vanagon which has the middle seat taken out. I can sit in the back with an easel. Gordon sits in the front seat. Many times we walk to the site but in this beautiful spot in Orleans we get to park right up next to the water. This little bit of land separates Robert's Cove from Mill Pond. We can paint there any time of year because it is a town landing and no beach sticker is required. It is a lovely spot.

Prosperity

Prosperity to me means not only good fortune but good health. Ever since I saw the DVD,"The Secret" I have decided that I need to put a positive spin on EVERYTHING I do. The Secret talks about the law of attraction. When we do "good", we receive "good" so I have decided to use the symbol of an apple to bring me prosperity. I have already noticed that I have used apples in many of my still lifes over the years.
"Prosperity" is an acrylic, 20" x 20" and is priced at $500.

Tidal Creek

This oil painting is from the same location as my Yellow Boat painting.
Boat Meadow Beach in Eastham.
The house stager used this Tidal Creek in a light teal blue alcove that matches the water of this painting perfectly. The house sold allowing me to have the painting back. It is 30" x 24" and sells for $2000.

The Yellow Boat

The little yellow boat is at one of my favorite spots to paint . I wish that I knew the owner so that I could tell him or her about my painting of the boat. Boat Meadow Beach in Eastham is a beautiful area with an inlet and a place that more than one sailboat is moored. I love to paint here and will add another painting later that I did of the tidal creek. This painting is in a house that the house stager wanted to use in a new home in Wellfleet. She has touches of cranberry red in the room with creamy colored walls. The colors of the painting work beautifully with the room. She really has an eye for picking out colors and themes. I am trying to figure out how to label this image but until I do learn I will tell you the size of this oil and the price. It is 34" x 39" . The price is $3000. It is framed in an articulated contemporary wood frame.

Atmospheric Pleasure

Today I am writing about a painting I did in 2005 plein air at Sesuit Harbor in Dennis on Cape Cod for those of you who are not familiar with this town. The land mass on the other side of the water is Cold Storage Beach in Dennis. There are many beautiful beaches in Dennis. This painting is 30" x 24" with a contempory articulated wood frame. I have also put it on my website under "Art Work" and then "Originals".
