This weekend I taught a two-day watercolor workshop at the Creative Art Center in Chatham. The first day I demonstrated painting flowers. Everyone painted her own arrangement or flowers that I had brought to the class for the demo. The second day I demonstrated a water view from a photograph that I had taken at Paines Creek. I told the class to check my blog for a water view that I would put on this blog so that they could see another painting of how I handle the water. This painting(16" x 12") is in a 24" x 20" mat and frame. It is for sale at The Summer Gallery In Sandwich for $600.Wednesday, June 20, 2007

Chapin Beach
Hello to everyone! I just got back from a luncheon with some other artists at a fellow artist's home. It was a great time sharing stories and networking. Today's painting, an oil, is one I did plein air from the back of my VW Vanagon.Chapin Beach in Dennis is a beach where the four-wheel drive vehicles are driven on the beach. I was painting right at the end of the driveway. This painting is 30" x 24" and is $2000.

Lilacs and Teacup

This original oil is 30" x 24" and is sold. But I have made a 20" x 16" giclee on canvas from the original. It sells framed for $300. Dan Skojec who makes tiles and cutting boards for me from my originals is also making giclees for me. If you are interested in him and Marcos Oliveira making tiles or giclees for you ,they can be reached at http://www.millpondtileworks.com I mention them because they do such a fine job and are wonderful people to work with. On my website under "Art Work" and then under "Gifts", you can find many of the tiles for sale.
I also want to mention a a business that I hope to take part in some day, Cape Cod Cultural Tours. These tours will take people across Cape Cod and one of the tours will be to visit artists at their gallery and studio. I hope this will be of interest to you . Please read their brochure which you can download. www.capecodculturaltours.com They have many tours to offer. And what fun!

Poppies
As I said in my last blog , I wanted to display my poppy painting because they are blooming right now! The actual painting is much brighter in the background. I painted it in different shades of green. It is a 20" x 30" oil and is $1000 for sale at the beautiful Summer Gallery in Sandwich.http://www.summergallerycapecod.com/ I have ordered a new digital camera and may try taking a photo with the new camera of the garden when a few more poppies are blooming.
It is always an exciting time of year. The days are getting longer and longer and warmer and warmer.

Peonies
Every June I am thrilled to see my peonies blooming in my garden. I have 20 plants of which 19 of them were given to me by my neighbor before she moved to Florida a few years ago. These plants were handed down in her family decades ago. What a wonderful gift. She also had given me ,without knowing it, a poppy plant which now has given me many plants and many poppies to paint. I will write about them later with an accompanied painting. This still life of peonies is 30" x 20" and is priced at $1500 hanging for the summer at The Bramble Inn, a wonderful restaurant in Brewster.http://www.brambleinn.com/ I hope you get a chance to visit the restaurant and I hope you get the experience of enjoying the fragrance of a peony.
